The
deck fittings are made of grade 316 stainless steel. The bow pulpit
has seats that offer excellent views of the boat and water and pushpits
on the stern. There are brackets for two horseshoe buoys and one
overboard light as well as stanchions and stanchion bases, a swim
ladder, grab rails on the coach roof and eight mooring cleats.

contained by the two 40 litre calorifiers, with hot water system.
There are two manual bilge pumps and six electrical, a self - draining
cockpit and a hot cold shower on the deck. The 400 can be navigated
from both the cockpit, located on the deck, or the navigation center
at the stern, inside the boat. As far as steering from the cockpit
is concerned though, the steering console includes a stainless steel
steering wheel and an instrument console. There are a two - seater
helmsman seat and three storage lockers.
The saloon has a dining table with seating for six, with leather
upholstered cushions and storage space in the GRP moulded finished
seating modules. The galley is fully equipped and contains four
propane burners and propane stove, stainless sink with cover, pressurized
hot and cold water, salt water tap, top - opening 12v fridge - freezer.
With the large working areas, corian work surfaces with stainless
steel rails and fiddles, one can cook up a storm, and to help with
the clean up afterwards there is a stainless steel waste chute with
cover. Beside the saloon is the navigation center with a recessed
chart table and chart stowage, an instrument console containing
Autohelm ST60 tridata and wind, a compassand ICOM IC -M45 VHF radio.
For the helmsman's comfort there is a navigation seat and removable

along with the forward cabin that contains two single bunks, a queen
size double bunk with split mattresses (three piece), GRP moulded

Behind the head compartment is the interesting, sound insulated
engine room, housing the twin 125hp Yanmar diesel engines. It also
contains two instrument panels, two 55A alternators and a high pressure
fuel line running from the 800 litre fuel tank. The catamaran is
driven by two fixed propellers and if, when the propellers are no
longer required, there is a 40lb CQR primary anchor with 50m galvanised
chain and five mooring lines. This boat is designed with the intention
of voyaging very far off shore and the availability of electricity
is crucial for the purpose. A link 2000 system consisting of two
125A alternators is used for charging the battery selected on the
battery isolator switch. A number of batteries are used, namely
two engines start 12v (65ah) batteries and the 12v (400AH) ship
load batteries. As far as lighting goes, there are the lazeretto
and engine room lights, mast top and lower navigation lights and
a steaming light. Six interior 200v sockets, of which three in the
saloon and one in each of the rooms can be used for applicances
and there is a 200v shore cable socket.
For daytime lighting there are plenty of windows, hatches and an
aluminium frame sliding door to let in the rays and fresh maritime
air. All in all there are 12 port lights, four tinted glass windows
with clip on canvass covers and seven hatches. Maritime safety is
a major consideration for any watercraft - no boat, no matter how
fancy, expensive or apparently indestructible is exempted from the
possible effects of the unpredictability of the merciless ocean.
The Maxim 400 Cat is well equipped for the unforeseen and basic
safety equipment includes flares, parachute rockets, a first aid
kit, two horseshoe rings, a danbouy, mob light, radar reflector
and boat hook.
This impressive motorised catamaran is a classy, high quality and
unique construction, well capable of serving as a comfortable home
for those hours spent off shore. It's also a family orientated boat
with its sizeable rooms, luxurious living space along with its ability
to house a fighting chair for big game fish. Indeed, a boat that
the whole family can enjoy to the max.
The Maxim 400 Power Catamaran offers all the right ingredients when
it comes to a craft of this nature and it's surprisingly affordable.
